Balvi Vocational and general education secondary school
(Balvu profesionālā un vispārizglītojošā vidusskola)
Balvi Vocational and general education secondary school (BPVV) is located in the east of Latvia. It was established in 2014 on the basis of the other school – Balvi Secondary school of Trade.
School offers pupils to acquire either general educational program or professional/vocational educational programs - clothe designing for girls and carpentry for boys. School also offers non-formal education for adults. There learn about 250 pupils in the school.
Many of pupils who learn in BPVV come from the nearest regions and towns. There are also almost 40 teachers who are high qualified and experienced professionals in their fields.
The main idea of the school is to provide a people from different age groups and social backgrounds. The pupils age differs from 13- 21 years, and as it was mentioned before the adults also can acquire here the non-formal education - courses (English, IT, etc.).
In the framework of educational program „Sewn products manufacturing technology” in Balvi Vocational and General education secondary school there are made clothes, which are demonstrated, regional, Latvian and international levels. With these collections school takes part and receive awards in fashion shows, contests, in Latvian School Youth Song and Dance Festival, the international fashion festivals. Fashioned dress collection with the set standard quality and originality is attributable to high fashion clothing.
Joinery students mainly specialize in making of souvenirs, interior and exterior elements as well as in making belts, necklaces, etc. clothing accessories from wood.
